Caring for Gold-Tone Hardware on Your Dog's Collar
4 min read

Our collar hardware and charms are cast in stainless steel and finished with an 18K gold PVD coating, the same process used on fine watch cases. It's built to resist tarnish, chipping, and daily wear. Here's the routine we recommend to keep it looking new.
After every wet walk
Wipe the buckle, D-ring, and charm with a soft dry cloth. That's it. Salt and mud are the two things that dull a PVD-gold finish over time; a 10-second wipe prevents both.
Monthly
Run a jeweler's polishing cloth over the metal. If you don't have one, a soft microfiber and a drop of dish soap on a damp cloth work, dry immediately.
What to avoid
- Ammonia-based cleaners, they strip the PVD
- Ultrasonic jewelry cleaners
- Leaving the collar damp overnight
If a charm ever looks dull
Swap it. Our Bone and Luna charms unhook in seconds, cycle them so no single piece takes every walk.
